Flooding in Ballater

On the 30th December 2015, the small Deeside village of Ballater was overwhelmed by powerful flood waters off the River Dee. This caused immense damage to over 300 properties in the village. Paradigm Reinstatements were called upon to respond along with numerous other contractors across Scotland. Of the many properties Paradigm worked upon one was an idyllic detached cottage in Albert Road near the golf club.

The entire ground floor level of this property was under 1 metre of water resulting in enormous damage and disruption to the family. Paradigm was able to immediately install an advanced heated drying system which was able to dry out the property without any strip out of T&G floorboards or plaster. The property was dried out within 10 days which is remarkable given the outside temperatures were well below zero and the properties heating system wasn’t working.

The subsequent repairs were very successful resulting in the property being fully dried out, repaired and habitable within 6 months, whilst many neighbouring properties were still waiting on strip outs proceeding

The prompt response and installation of an advanced heated drying systems was able to save hugely on overall reinstatements costs and more importantly got the family back in their home in a very reasonable time frame.
